The maintenance and provision of modern motor vehicles is as much a part of the work of the
Royal Mews as that of carriages and horses. The State Cars (as opposed to those for private use) are all painted in claret and black and are without number plates. They comprise two
Bentley State Limousines (given to the Queen in 2002 to mark her Golden Jubilee) and three Rolls Royces (including the
1977 Silver Jubilee Phantom VI and a rare 1948 Phantom IV). Three
Daimler limousines are also maintained in Royal Mews for use as support vehicles.
