今天写了个邮件给Brompton,问加内八速花鼓的问题,他们回复如下:
I’ve seen a few Brompton’s converted to fit a Shimano Nexus or Alfine, it does
require you to modify the rear frame to get it to fit (as its too wide to fit
our rear frame) but other than that they seem to be fairly straightforward to
fit.
The reason we don’t use an 8-speed hub such as the Alfine or Sturmey Archer hub
is due to the increased weight and inefficiency compared to the 6-speed; due to
the extra complexity of the internals the 8-speed hubs have significantly more
internal friction and extra weight. The overall gearing range is also not much
different to the Brompton 6-speed gearing, so in that respect offers little
benefit apart from slightly smaller gaps between the gears.
Obviously the single shifter is easier to use and a single cable and shift
mechanism is a little tidier than our two shifter/cable system.
Kind regards
